Introduction

Awakened Legends is a series of on going D&D campaigns set in the world of Greyhawk, played by members of the Spotsylvania Area Gamers.

These campaigns began in the spring of 2018.  Set during the post-Greyhawk Wars era of the Greyhawk setting, play began in the Salinmoor county of the Kingdom of Keoland in the year 589 CY, on the continent of Flanaess, set on the world of Oerth.

The campaign began using the 2nd edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules, but player demand convinced the Dungeon Master to shift to the 5th edition rules.

A chronology of the campaign events to date, descriptions of the previous players, and other campaign information is on the way. A short summary follows.

The campaign began playing through the classic module, U1 The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh. After that the players ran through RQ1 Night of the Walking Dead, with the Scroll of Hyksosa being altered to fit the planned campaign arc.  Next the players went through short Dungeon magazine adventures, Dungeon #18 “Ironguard" and Dungeon #40 “Song of the Fens”.  Then U2 Danger at Dunwater and HHQ2 Wizard’s Challenge. They completed this first campaign with U3 The Final Enemy. Then. the surviving sahuaghin and their pirate allies launched an assault on Saltmarsh itself. I've recently named this campaign, "Secrets of Saltmarsh."

Next, the party ran through X2 Castle Amber (Château d' Amberville), which took many sessions, including the trip to Averoigne. With Castle Amber complete, the player characters retired for a short while, while our group shifted to 5th edition, and the Thieves' World setting.

After a year in Thieves' World, we've decided to switch back to our Greyhawk campaign. Still set in Keoland, but now further north, in the County of Cryllor, the new campaign combines B2 The Keep on the Borderlands with G1-2-3 Against the Giants. Later The game makes use of more recent 5th edition conversions Tales from the Yawning Portal and Goodman GamesInto the Borderlands. During play I realized the players needed another adventure between B2 and the G series, so I ran them through L2 The Assassin's Knot using a conversion i bought off Dungeon Masters' Guild. Primarily just for any stats they might provide, however, the essence of the campaign will stick to the original modules for flavor. This campaign is "Giants on the Borderlands".

The new campaign began with new, 1st level characters journeying to Borderlands Keep, one of many such keeps Keoland built to a standard design to guard its border regions.  This particular keep is on the border between the County of Cryllor and the Jotens mountain range, just south of the recently liberated March of Sterich. Attacks from orcs, gnolls, hobgoblins, ogres, and, most frighteningly, giants, have increased in the area recently.

Later, after the new characters have gained some experience, some of the groups older characters from the previous campaign will likely journey to northwards and participate in this campaign.

The game is divided into books and chapters, it is difficult to say how long each chapter will be or how many there will be, but each book will consist of the play required to complete one of the five modules of the campaign.

I m also maintaining a Chronology of the Awakened Legends Campaigns.  I follow 1e/2e cosmology, and all of my various D&D campaigns over the years fall within the "multiverse", you can find out about how all these campaigns intersect, ect. at another blog I run, Lúmequentalë Númenostan, especially on its welcome post.
