7 Coldeven (March), 590 CY After another night of rest the party went after the hobgoblins but found them tactically more proficient then the kobolds or goblins had been. The narrative:
The party was very confident after slaughtering the goblins. They discovered a secret door at the back of the goblin lair that led to secret complex of rooms that led to secret storerooms and armories of the hobgoblins, but after a few sharp fights with hobgoblin guards they pulled out and went to rest.
When they returned the next morning well rested with spells rememorized they debated how to go after the hobgoblins. They had discovered two entries, through the secret door from the goblin storerooms, or to the east down a long corridor and up a couple flights of stairs to a hobgoblin guard room.
The players, now a large party nearly a dozen strong with Hobar's rolling pavisses, decided to launch a straight forward full assault on the hobgoblin lair through the guard room. They found the hobgoblins ready for them, but they pushed on past the guardroom and through the long winding tunnel beyond.
Unfortunately, the hobgoblin chief, Grishnakh, was uncommonly clever himself. While hobgoblins with pikes and crossbows slowed the party down, another force of hobgoblins ran out their front door , down to the goblin pair opening, and through the tunnels attacking the adventurers from behind.

The fighting was long and bloody, an many hobgoblins died but the party was in great danger. Finally, the party and the hobgoblins negotiated a truce. The hobgoblins agree to ignore the adventurers if the party leaves them alone. As a token of goodwill, the hobgoblins tell them where the orc lairs all and encourage the party to attack the orcs.
The party withdrew from the caves and camped in the woods nearby to rest and recover.
The party now consisted of nearly a dozen members, and included: Corvus (priest of Pholtus), Sheila (paladin of Pholtus), Zask (mysterious spellcaster), Redd (dwarven paladin), Olga (Dwarven Scout), Blacktoof (half-orc barbarian), Sir Percy Cleghorn Stanley Hobar (noble artificer), Ambiguity (Rakasta druid) & her companion mountain lion, Evryhss (elvish adventurer), Gozara (barbarbian warrior). Morbor (dwarven fighter)
